Silver, parcel-gilt and niello, circular; decorated with a portriat medallion on the lid and trophies of war on the base

Silver, parcel-gilt and niello, circular with flat pull-off lid. The lid is set with a gilt portriat medallion on the Grand Duke Paul and the Grand Duchess Maria Theodorvna. the is surounded by nielloed pattern of geometric checks and chevrons. The sides are similarly nielloed. The recessed base is nielloed with an intricate display of the trophies of war, including armour, standards, a cannon, trumpets and a laurel wreath, surrounded by a pattern if geometric checks and chevrons. The interior of the box is gilt.
