Silver, parcel-gilt and niello, rectangular with integral hinge. The flat cover is nielloed with a rural scene of a couple in a Summer troika passing in front of barns, a picket fence and hay ricks, all within a rococo border and on a matt gilt ground. The base similarly decorated but depicting a man and child on a winter troika. The sides are undecorated silver and slightly convex. The interior is gilt
