Silver, parcel-gilt and niello, rectangular with cut corners, decorated with a Chinoiserie vignette in a rococo border

Silver, parcel-gilt and niello, rectangular with cut corners and integral hinge. The flat cover is nielloed with a vignette of two Oriental figures in rocky Chinese scene with a bridge, buildings and pine trees in the background, surrounded by a rococo border; the whole on a matted gilt ground. The sides and recessed base are similarly decorated. The bezel and corners are engraved with a border of chevrons. The interior is gilt.
