Gilt metal set with a miniature in enamel on copper depicting a female warrior and two cherubs
Gilt metal set with a miniature in enamel on copper; the rectangular box with flat hinge and cusped thumbpiece is chased all over with a basket-work pattern. The lid is set with a domed miniature depicting on the top a female warrior or goddess in a plumed helmet, holding a spear, with a cherub above her right shoulder and beneath her left arm. The reverse, on the inside of the lid, depicts a rural landscape with two Classically dressed figures standing between a partially ruined Classical temple and a river, in the background are further figures, a castle and mountains.

Relative size of this object is displayed using code inspired by Good Form and Spectacle's work on the British Museum's Waddeson Bequest website and their dimension drawer. They chose a tennis ball to represent a universally sized object, from which you could envisage the size of an object.
