Copper, enamelled and gilt
Copper, enamelled in dark blue, dark green, turquoise, red, and white, and gilded. Circular with a broad rim, slightly upturned at the edge, a deep curved well, with a slightly convex central medallion, standing on a footring. The central medallion is decorated with a gold rosette on a dark green ground. The sides of the well are white decorated in gold with a circle of wavy rays and a scrolling foliated line enclosing palmettes with turquoise centres. The dark blue rim is decorated with gold scrolls and palmettes with turquoise or red centres. The outer edge is white with gold slanting lines over it to resemble knurling on metalwork. The centre of the back is white, decorated in gold with a star formed by eight leaves, surrounded by scattered stars. The sides and rim are dark blue scattered with gold stars, and are edged with borders of small scalloped gold swags round the footring, shoulder and outer edge
