Description

Silver, parcel-gilt; the small bowl on a heaxagonal stem with large hexagonal knop over an eight lobed foot embossed with panels of flowers

Silver, parcel-gilt; the small bowl has sloping cylindrical sides and sits on a calyx of ornate applied gadroons. The interior and rim are gilt. The sides of the hexagonal stem have gadrooned borders. Half way down the stem is a large hexagonal knop with, above and below, compressed hemispheres of embossed and chased gadroons. The base of the stem is trumpet-shaped and is chased with strapwork on a matted ground. On the foot is a highly embossed band of husks surrounded by eight lobes containing embossed and chased panels of stylised flowers. The foot stands on a vertical rim, stamped with stylised flowers, over a flat foot ring. The foot is attached to the stem by a screw.
