Description

Silver-gilt; the fig-shaped bowl and hexagonal handle with cast lower section and finial of cherub's masks

Silver-gilt; the deep fig-shaped bowl has a hexagonal handle. At the join is a cast shield with a cherub's mask amid scrolls. The cast finial has a cherub's mask at the front and back, surrounded by scrolls. The front of the bowl is initialled near the stem with a 'V', and engraved in the centre with a later English crest. The back of the bowl is initialled 'VK' with a decorative '8' between. The front of the stem is inscribed 'GOTT * BEHITTES * UND * HELF * UNS'
