Description

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, leaf from a gradual with heavily trimmed margins, text block 305 x 215 mm, 9 lines of text ruled in faint brown ink and 9 four-line music staves ruled in red.

Original foliation xxiii on recto, 365 x 270 mm

CONTENTS: recto: End of Common of Saints for One Confessor, …[dulce]dinis posuisti in capite eius coronam de lapide precioso; verso Introit for the feast of the Annunciation, Rorate celi desuper.

DECORATION: Small framed miniature [3 ll.] with two-sided strewn-flower border: Annunciation, enlarged version of the lily vase with inscriptions Ave Maria and Ecce ancilla domini in border.

ORNAMENTATION: One-line initials formed of acanthus and branches against coloured and framed backgrounds introducing texts marked by the miniatures; alternate red and blue one-line initials with voided ornament; black ink one-line calligraphic capitals highlighted in red and incorporating grotesque profiles; capitals highlighted in red.
