Cutting from a Gradual
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, 130 x 145 mm, fragmentary words and four-line staves ruled in black ink (one of the lines ruled in red as well) on reverse.
CONTENTS: The initial G may have marked the Introit for the feast ‘In exaltatione sancte corone Domini’ (11 Aug.) characteristic for the Cistercian Missal.
DECORATION: Historiated initial formed of acanthus, fish-scale motifs, and masks on framed, recessed blue-green grounds: [G, 2 ll.] Ecce homo.
