Description

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, 447 x 275 mm (350 x 192 mm), 2 columns, 74 lines, ruled in plummet.

CONTENTS: Iohannes Andreae, Novella in Decretales, beginning of Bk V, De accusationibus, inquisitionibus et denuntiationibus.

DECORATION: Column framed miniature showing a cardinal enthroned as a judge and conducting a court hearing on burnished gold background.

Two historiated initials formed of pink, grey and red acanthus and zoomorphic motifs for the first two titles: [P, 10 ll.], Bishop reading within the bowl of the letter and a caryatid-like figure supporting his cathedra within the shaft of the letter, which extends down the full length of the text column; [S, 7 ll.], Bust of a doctor of law with a book.

ORNAMENTATION: Alternate red and blue penwork initials [2 ll.] with violet or red pen-flourished infill and frames; alternate red and blue paraph signs.
