Initial from an Antiphoner
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, 210 x 180 mm, two lines of fragmentary text and two fragmentary four-line musical staves ruled in red on reverse.
CONTENTS: The initial introduced the second responsory of the first nocturne for Pentecost, Dum complerentur dies Pentecostes erant omnes pariter; on reverse, part of the antiphon for Vespers on Whit Sunday, [Non vos relinquam orp]hanos alleluia [vado et] venio ad vos.
DECORATION: Historiated initial formed of stylized architectural motifs in blue with foliate extensions, wreaths, putti and simulated metal ornament: [D, 2 text lines and 3 musical staves] Pentecost.
History note: Unidentified in Pierre-Henri Gélis Didot’s sale, Paris, 12–13 April 1897
