Gold, oval bezel, closed back, hoop with twin crocodile tails intertwined at base, paws gripping bezel with pairs of lotus flowers to each side. The gem is too small for this setting. Opaque white on grey sardonyx cameo head of the Emperor Otho, wearing a wig of tight curls, facing in profile to the right.
