Description

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, 142 x 146 mm, six fragmentary lines of text partly written on alternate lines, ruled in brown ink.

CONTENTS: On reverse, text from the hymn for Vespers, Lucis Creator optime, patrique conpa[r unice cum spirit]u paraclito r[egnans per omne secula], followed by versicle, Dirigatur d. oratio m[ea], with responsory, Sicut incensum in con[spectu] tuo/ Ad Mag. and rubric for following antiphon; the initial would have introduced the Magnificat and would have been on the verso of the original leaf.

ORNAMENTATION: Ornamental initial formed by an inner band of liquid gold and outer sections of solid colour combined with dense foliage with the same motifs used in the bowl of the letter: [M] painted on square grounds of solid blue with intricate white highlighting and scalloped edging in brown ink. Initial to versicle and responsory filled with yellow, and rubric for the antiphon accompanied by a blue paraph.
