Initial from an Augustinian Antiphoner
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, 149 x 65 mm, two four-line musical staves ruled in red ink and two fragmentary lines of text ruled in brown ink on reverse.
CONTENTS: On reverse, fragmentary text, […]am in [….]eam; the initial probably introduced the responsory for the first lesson of Matins for the Feast of St Augustine (28 Aug.), Invenit se Augustinus longe esse a deo.
DECORATION: Historiated initial in orange with foliate motifs on a dark blue ground: [I, 2 ll.] St Augustine with text of his Rule accompanied by friars (upper compartment), and an Augustinian friar with staff (lower compartment).
