PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, ii eighteenth-century paper leaves + i modern paper flyleaf + 95 fols., 136 x 85 mm (115 x 70 mm), 31-32 long lines, ruled in plummet, written above top line, catchwords.

BINDING: eighteenth century, blind-tooled tan leather over pasteboards.

ORNAMENTATION: Initials [2-5 ll.] in red (except fol. 1r, green), with letter occasionally extending into foliate forms, most commonly decorated with two dots, also red, for each new sermon.

History note: Cistercian Province of Lombardy, probably from the Cistercian Abbey of Morimondo, Diocese of Milan, as suggested by the binding, typical of Morimondo manuscripts (Ferrari 1980, 284); possibly part of the collection of Francesco Giovio (1796-1873) (Ferrari 1993, 304); paper label with 67 in brown ink on spine (Ferrari 1980, 284); U. Hoepli, Milan, cutting from sale catalogue no. 83 (1883), this book no. 143, pasted inside upper cover; purchased from him by Frank McClean (1837-1904) in 1892; his bequest, 1904.
