Note

Text from object entry in A. Game (2016) ‘Contemporary British Crafts: The Goodison Gift to the Fitzwilliam Museum’. London: Philip Wilson Publishers: Merete Rasmussen studied at Designskolen Kolding in Denmark before establishing her studio in London in 2005. She hand-builds clay sculptures which explore the ways in which space is animated through physical form. A particular characteristic of her work is the complex curved form that, like a Möbius strip, appears to have only one edge. Pieces are given even surfaces of strong colour to emphasise the visual affect and she cites the fluid forms of Danish modernism as an influence together with an interest in the structures of the natural world.
