Poll-plate: HEN.M.157B-1933

Object information

Current Location: Gallery 31 (Armoury)

Poll-plate of a shaffron for field use. Formed of a single plate strongly curved transversely and slightly curved longitudinally. It has a nearly straight front edge and a slightly curved rear edge. Its front corners are strongly cut out in concave curves to clear the horse's ears. The rear edge and the cut-outs have plain outward turns. Three externally flush rivets at the front edge retain a modern buff leather hinge to attach the poll-plate to the shaffron. The remaining edges of the poll-plate are pierced with holes for lining-rivets.
