Plate from a Dessert Service
Factory: Spode
Bone china, decorated with moulded reliefs reserved in a pale blue ground, painting in polychrome enamels, and gilding. Circular with an alternately long and short arcs round the edge, slightly concave rim, and shallow curved well, standing on a footring. In the centre there is a stem of red chrysanthemum and two narcissi. The rim has a pale blue ground alternating with three polychrome enamel sprays: a red and yellow tulip, a purple and white flower and bud, and a puce flower. A narrow gold band runs round the inner edge and a broader gold band runs round the outer edge. The base is painted in red enamel ‘SPODE 2004’.

This design was introduced in 1813 or 1814 and remained popular for many years. The Trelissick service was dated to c. 1825 when sold by Bonham's in 2013
