Glazed hard-paste porcelain tureen and cover decorated with applied rose sprays
Hard-paste porcelain, moulded, decorated with applied modelled rose sprays, and glazed. The tureen is oval with bulging sides which have two groups of swirling fluting on each side and a band of osier pattern below the rim. At both ends there is a branch handle with sprays of roses and leaves at its junction with the bowl. In the middle of the base there is a longitudinal ridge 5 cm long. The cover is domed and similarly decorated and handled.

The Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Berlin was founded in 1763 by Frederick II (the Great) of Prussia when he bought an existing porcelain factory, which had been owned since 1761 by Johan Ernst Gotzkowsky.
