Lady's lever watch in gold case, with key.
MOVEMENT: Full plate movement, plate engraved 'Dent Watchmaker to the Queen' and '34 Royal Exchange / & 61 Strand / LONDON / No. 37434' engraved on barrel bridge and 'Dent 61 Strand London 37434' painted on dial. Plain wedge-shaped balance cock, polished steel regulator, friction fit in groove, blued end piece secured by two screws, red end stone. Gold balance, polished steel spring cock, silver regulation scale, capped jewels to escape. and pallet holes, both secured by two screws. Rectangular fusee iron post, polished steel case bolt in slot in edge of plate, nib under dial. Potance screwed to plate. Pillar plate with four turned pillars, with radial ends and off centre ring. Centre wheel recessed. Third wheel bar. Under dial stamped '37434', '4JD' and '0' over '6'. Capped jewels for pallet and escape wheel, secured with two screws.
Going fusee and chain, barrel with one lip, set-up click under dial. Lever escapement. Train planted anti-clockwise.
DIAL: Gold, three feet, back stamped 'GP' and '37434'. Scratched '37434, 12, 1288,' 'v' over 'Da' and 'nj' (?). Dotted minute ring, ringed chapter ring with radial painted black Roman chapters, matt centre with floral design, painted inscription (see above).
HANDS: Blued steel spade and plain.
CASE: Gold, double-backed case, chased all over, inside back with 'London HM 1874,' stamped 'DENT, G. A. P., 237434' and incuse 'R' and '5' (?) in diamond. Dome engraved with monogram 'BA', inside stamped with 'London HM 1874,' and '37474', maker's mark 'G. A. P' and '5' (?) in diamond. Spherical pendant, round bow with the bottom half chased.
KEY (A): (possibly a replacement) made from stamped brassl, with 'Switzerland' engraved on one side and '3' on the other.
The case for the watch is made from black leather, and is circular with a slightly domed lid. It is modern, and was purchased in Florence.
