Verge watch in gold enamelled case, set with pearls.

MOVEMENT: Full plate movement with barrel bar engraved 'Wm. Keates 274' and monogram 'CMS'. Balance cock, table pierced and engraved with Prince of Wales feathers at top, two small eagles at sides, and a basket on the neck. Blued steel end piece, diamond end stone, polished screws, foot chased. Polished steel balance, applied plate chased, silver regulation dial engraved 5 to 30. Pierced fusee iron post, polished steel case bolt with conical end, in slot, nib under dial. Potance with moulded end of foot. Counter-potance rectangular. Pillar plate with four turned pillars with rings at ends, centre wheel sunk in plate, third wheel bridge. Under dial set-up click wheel in recess. Fusee and chain, plain barrel. Verge escapement. Train planted clockwise.

DIAL: White enamel on copper, slight dome, three feet, gilt edge. Counter enamel inscribed 'Slesif & Gibbons'. Dot minute ring, asterisk at quarters, radial Arabic chapters, 4 to 8 read from outside of dial. Winding hole at 4 o'clock with copper ring.

HANDS: Gold with baluster shaft, diamond ends, pierced.

CASE: Gold enamelled and set with pearls. Body back with outer ring of fifty-four pearls, centre engine turned under dark blue translucent enamel, opening scratched with '66 c (reversed) x/-/-' and '40 lv/-/-' (scratches through). Bezel, cylindrical edge, edge of glass set with fifty pearls, opening scratched '300 c (reversed) 12/-/-', inside scratched '23400'. Stepped cylindrical, large flush steel push piece. Stirrup bow.

CHATELAINE (A): Gold, enamel and pearls. Three chains, inner with oval links enamelled with outer white line and dark blue centre, two outer chains, links gold wire with three pierced pearls. Central oval plaque with outer rings of twenty-seven pearls each side, one side inner dark blue enamel over engine turning, other side with hair under glass. Enamelled link drop with straight key (B) with rectangular handle enamelled en suite. Similar chain with flattened vase shaped enamelled en suite, seal cut with key and 'SECRET' on three sides of key. A bell, enamelled en suite, with three pearl links and gold coiled wire drops. Two, three pearl links, drops unused.
