Verge watch, in gold enamelled case set with pearls.

MOVEMENT: Full plate movement engraved 'Matthey & Compe 339', also 'Matthey & Compe' painted on dial. Balance bridge with pierced and engraved table, polished steel coquette. Brass balance. Silver regulation dial engraved 'A' and 'R' at ends of scale, plain gold hand. Plain cock for fusee. Plain counter-potance on top of the top plate, with polished steel end plate and adjustment screw. Turned fusee iron post. Polished steel case bolt in slot in plate, nib under dial. Adjustable potance. Pillar plate with four plain turned pillars. Sunk centre wheel and barrel. Third wheel bar. Under dial, edge turned down, stamped '2454' which has been scratched out, and '339' scratched on. Fusee and chain, set up click under dial, barrel with one lip. Verge escapement. Train planted anti-clockwise.

DIAL: White enamel on copper with gilt edge. Vertical Arabic quarter figure, radial line minute ring, four dots at 5 minutes, vertical Arabic chapters. Winding hole at 2 o'clock. Name as above, painted in line between 8 and 4 o'clock.

HANDS: Gold hour hand with open diamond shaped head, plain brass minute hand.

CASE: Gold with ring of pearls set on bezel and body. Bezel with edge band chased in rope pattern, dark blue translucent enamel with outer ring of white enamel dots within gold, rings and chasing on back under enamel. Inside back of body with scratch mark '60 0j', opening flat scratched with '67 X/-/-' and '37=5V/-/-' crossed through. Pendant, rectangular base, oval stem, rectangular top with line top and bottom. Base stamped '339', top stamped 'DR'. Oval stirrup bow. Small button at the top of the pendant is pressed in to withdraw the nib of the cover glass at "3 o'clock", a defectively designed arrangement.
