Verge watch and pedometer in Pinchbeck case.
MOVEMENT: Full plate movement engraved 'By the Kings Letters PATENT Ralph Gout London No 193' and 'Ralph Gout London No. 193' on cap table. Balance cock with table pierced and engraved with helmet and trophies of war at top, and an urn in an oval frame engraved at the neck. Foot engraved. Blued steel end piece and diamond end stone. Polished steel balance. Engraved slide plate with silver regulation dial with radial Arabic numbers 5 to 30. Pierced fusee iron post. Potance, with short narrow foot, screwed to plate. Counter-potance riveted to plate. Top plate stamped '193' underneath dial. Pillar plate with four turned pillars, having rings at ends. Second wheel recessed into pillar plate. Second wheel not in centre, but up under 12 o'clock, under time dial. Under dial, brass bridge for pedometer train, plate stamped '193'. Fusee and chain, set-up click under slide plate, off-centre second wheel, verge escapement. Pedometer operating lever across pillar plate under pendant. Train planted anti-clockwise.
CAP: Engraved, as above, on raised oval table. Regulation dial aperture with central pointer. Blued steel cap slide. All corners moulded. Side cut-away to clear pedometer lever and pendant rod. Form changed after gilding.
BRASS EDGE: With joint. Scratched on movement side '93' and 'WW'. Dial in recess with very narrow edge.
DIAL: Flat white enamel on copper, two feet. Outer dial and three subsidiary dials. Outer dial with small radial Arabic numbers 5 to 100, and 100 short lines. Bottom right and left sub-dials, radial Arabic figures 1 to 10. Upper central time dial with radial Arabic quarters, 60 missing, dot minute ring, radial Roman chapters. Lettered between sub-dials 'RALPH...GOUT...LONDON'.
HANDS: Gold, central hand straight with crescent moon counter weight, hand bent to miss cannon pinion. Bottom sub dial's hands with pierced diamond ends. Pierced diamond hour hand, straight minute hand.
CASE: Plain polished single backed Pinchbeck consular case, with pierced pedometer lever pivoted in pendant. The case inside the back is raised to cover the movement. Back stamped inside '193' in centre and 'O' at 6 o'clock, scratch marked 'ynm'. Pendant spring screw holes present.
