Miniature from a Psalter
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, fragment 145 x 95 mm, miniature 133 x 82 mm, blank on reverse
DECORATION: Full-page miniature on burnished gold ground with blue and pink frame with gold squares in the corners: Ascension with Virgin Mary (below centre), and Christ rising up through the clouds above, witnessed by disciples, including St Peter who holds a key.
History note: Pierre-Henri Gélis Didot (1853-1902); his sale, Paris, 12-13 April 1897, lot 41; Charles Brinsley Marlay (1831-1912); his bequest, 1912.
