Willow Pattern Plate
Production: Wessex Collection
White ceramic plate, printed in blue with the 'Willow Pattern'. Wessex Collection. Dishwasher and microwave safe.
White ceramic body, moulded, and printed underglaze in blue. Circular with a slightly wavy edge, sloping rim with slanting fluting, shallow sides and flat centre, with a raised ring on the reverse. The flat area is occupied by the Willow Pattern with three figures on the bridge and two bvirds flying overhead. This is surrounded by a border comprising four wide V shapes enclosing a rectangular motif with incut corners, alternating with panels of ribbon diaper. The rim has a broad dense border comprising panels, plants, rectangular and circular motifs, with a small diaper patterned background, and round the edge, radiating rows of tiny circles.

This plate is made of a tough hybrid ceramic body by mechanized processes, and is able to withstand being washed in a dishwasher or being put in a microwave oven. It reproduces the traditional Willow Pattern design, which can be seen on a Copeland plate C.741-2016.
