Tortoise-shell with oval miniature portrait bust of a lady surrounded by a wreath of flowers
Tortoise-shell set with a miniature in bodycolour on card, mounted under glass in gold. The circular box has straight sides with gold rim mounts and a flat pull-off lid. The oval miniature depicts a lady in a mid 17th century décolleté blue dress trimmed with pearls and gems. She wears pearls at her neck and in her ringletted hair. Round the portrait is a wreath of flowers including roses and lilies.
