Gilt metal lined with tortoise-shell, set with a miniature of a vase of flowers
Gilt metal, tortoise-shell set with a miniature in enamel on copper mounted in gilt metal or gold. The oval box has straight sides and a flat lid and base, which have been decorated with stripes of red gold inlaid into dark blue enamel. Round the edge of the lid and base and round the rim of the join are mounts of bright-cut engraved yellow gold ropework. The interior is lined in tortoise-shell. The rectangular miniature depicts a carved stone vase of flowers including, roses, tulips, poppies and narcissi, on the corner of a marble slab.
