Tortoise-shell with miniature of a bird, bird's nest, urn and flowers in a wicker basket
Tortoise-shell set with a miniature in watercolour and bodycolour on card, mounted under glass in gilt metal. The circular box has straight sides and a flat pull-off lid. The circular miniature depicts a small bird watching a butterfly while standing on the rim of a two-handled urn, below are a nest of five eggs and a wicker basket of flowers, including roses, delphiniums, morning glory, narcissi and a crown imperial lily, all on a marble slab.
