Tortoise-shell with miniature of flowers in gilt basket
Tortoise-shell set with a miniature in watercolour and bodycolour, varnished, and mounted under glass in gilt metal. The circular box has slightly convex sides, moulded rims and a pull-off lid. The miniature depicts an openwork gilt basket on pedestal foot containing flowers, including roses, narcissi, honeysuckle and wild strawberries, on a marble table.
