Description

Soft-paste porcelain caudle cup and saucer, painted with a Japan pattern with flowers underglaze in blue, in red, green and turquoise enamels and gilt.

Soft-paste porcelain caudle cup and saucer, painted underglaze in blue, in red, green and turquoise enamels and gilt. The cup is of double-ogee shape, with lobed and barbed rim, and two pierced rococo scroll handles. The deep saucer is of similar shape. The cup is painted with a Japan pattern of alternate sprays of chrysanthemum and prunus separated by four upright gros-bleu panels reserved with a red-mons, and gilt with leaves and flowers, a floral meander band round the foot. The saucer is decorated en suite.
