Description

Soft-paste porcelain teapot amd cover, decorated with a Japan pattern in imitation of Imari porcelain underglaze in blue, onglaze in red, blue and green enamels, and gilt.

Soft-paste porcelain teapot and cover, decorated underglaze in blue, onglaze in red, blue and green enamels, and gilt. Globular shape with curved spout and loop handle, the shallow domed cover with an open flower knob. Decorated with a Japan pattern in imitation of Imari porcelain, comprising scrolling chrysanthemum sprays, divided by four underglaze blue panels reserved with circular floral medallions and gilt foliate scrolls; a blue and white floral meander border below; gilt-edged rims. The cover is decorated en suite. The floral knob has red-edged petals and a green centre.
