Description

Soft-paste porcelain plate, decorated onglaze with flower sprigs in polychrome enamels and gilt.

Soft-paste porcelain plate, decorated onglaze with pea-green ground colour, iron-red, puce, green, lilac and 'dry-blue' enamels and gilding. Circular with scalloped edge of twenty-four arcs, sloping rim and deep well, standing on a footring. Decorated with the 'Marchioness of Huntley' pattern. The pea-green border is edged with gilt rococo scrollwork. Two pendant sprays of polychrome flowers curve across the well and there are smaller sprays next to the border. A gilt line encircles the outer edge.

This pattern is named because a dessert service of the same pattern was sold by the second wife of the 10th Marquess of Huntley in 1882.
