Beaded Beaker Match Pot

Bone china with borders of applied beading, painted in polychrome enamels with shells, and gilt

Bone china, bone china, with applied beading, glazed and painted in green, yellow, pink, red, purple, pale yellowish-brown, and black enamels, and gilded. The vase is trumpet-shaped with an incurved base. The beading is applied round the edge of the foot, between the foot and sides, and below the rim. On the front is a panel with a pale yellowish-brown ground decorated with a group of shells and sea weed in the other colours. The back is white decorated in gold with two birds a basket of fruit suspended from a swag, a concal basket or vase with a cornucopia on each side, and an arrangement of scrolls at the bottom. The foot is gilded overall, and there is a wide gold band inside the rim.
