Design for a tapestry; a group of figures making music in an architectural setting
Draughtsman: Jordaens, Jacob
History note: Ricketts and Shannon Collection
The Ricketts and Shannon Collection. Bequeathed by Charles Shannon, 1937
Height: 199 mm
Width: 255 mm
Relative size of this object is displayed using code inspired by Good Form and Spectacle's work on the British Museum's Waddeson Bequest website and their dimension drawer. They chose a tennis ball to represent a universally sized object, from which you could envisage the size of an object.
Method of acquisition: Bequeathed (1937) by Shannon, Charles Haslewood
Formerly attributed to Erasmus Quellinus (1607-1678). This may be a study for a planned extension to Jordaens' house; the gabled door and balustrade are similar to what exists and there is no reason why this should be a tapestry design
