This dish was probably made in north Staffordshire. Comparable dishes with simply drawn birds incised through the slip coating are in the Victoria and Albert Museum (C.46-1933) and in the Potteries Museum, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent (1947 P60). They probably date from the mid to late eighteenth century.
