Unidentified Nevers factory
(Production)
Earthenware, thrown, with applied handles, tin-glazed bluish-white, and painted in blue and manganese-purple. The vase is of inverted bell-shape with an everted rim, and stands on a cylindrical foot. It has two loop handles, each formed by plaited coils with a scroll at the top and bottom. On each side it is painted with a Chinese figures in a landscape in late Ming style, above which round the mouth there is a formal border of scrolls and linear motifs. The handles are decorated with spots.
