Description

Fragment of a plate or dish rim. Buff earthenware, tin-glazed on both sides. Painted in dark blue, orange and a little green.
Four-sided fragment of the edge of the rim.
Part of concentric bands of blue laurel, orange stylised leaves and buds, blue herring bone, blue oblique lines over two circles, lozenges alternating with green spots, and blue 'rope' edge. On the reverse, petals filled with transverse orange stripes, and blue triangular lines filled with dots. 'Petal back type'.

Notes

History note: Probably found near the Duomo in Orvieto, where purchased by the donor.
