Soucoupes à pied were used as a stands for ice cream cups, or for dried fruits. This is probably one of eight soucoupes à pied costing 144 livres each from the service given to the Empress Maria-Theresa by Louis XV in 1758, the much of which is in the Hofburg, Vienna. The pieces in the service bear date letters for 1757 (D) and 1758 (E)
