The painter, Denis Levé is recorded as using a Roman L as his mark, but Riocreux also gives a script L which on this piece is followed by a dot. (MNS Vj’2). Peters, 2005, vol. I, p. 56. He worked at the factory between 1754 and 1793 and 1795 to 1805, concentrating on flowers, birds, and patterns.
The plateau lozange, designed by Jean-Claude Duplessis, was introduced in 1755.
This plateau losange corbeille ajourée and its pair, with two compotiers and a seau crenelle, all decorated with swags of husks or wheat ear, may have formed part of a service decorated with birds from Buffon or flowers, which in the 19th century belonged to Count A.D. Sheremetev (Chérémetèff) and was sold in London by the dealer Asher Wertheimer of Bond Street in 1906..
